I’ve always loved the star stitch! It’s such a pretty stitch and not overly difficult to create. Any item made from rows and rows of this stitch are gorgeous in themselves, but I wanted something a little different.
The stars are alternated with stripes of a simpler stitch, and when made in red, white and blue, it looks very patriotic!

This washcloth can be made with just one ball of worsted cotton yarn. I show two versions – one with the patriotic stripes and another in a solid color but with a contrasting color for the edging.

Finished washcloth is 9” x 10” (23 x 25 cm) but the pattern contains information on how to adjust the size.
