ABOUT THE PATTERN
Stillness Burns is a sweater born from grief— from that heavy stillness that settles in when everything stops…
but something keeps burning inside.
It begins in pale, neutral tones, as if all color had vanished.
But as you move through the stitches, red emerges— intense—
like a wound that can’t be hidden.
This pattern is a meditation on loss, on unspoken anger,
and on the love that keeps burning even when everything seems silent.
The sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. It begins with a provisional cast-on, followed by the back section.
Then, the front shoulders are picked up to shape the neckline.
Once the front is complete, it is joined with the back to continue the body in the round.
The sleeves are picked up and worked in the round as well.
At the end of both the body and sleeves, a colorwork section adds contrast and meaning to the design.
A subtle gradient emerges as mohair is changed and different yarns are combined.

18 stitches x 24 rows = 10 cm / 4”
Measured over stockinette stitch after blocking, worked in the round with main needles.
Make an additional swatch worked flat, as your gauge may change. You might need to adjust the needles for the armholes.

ACERCA DEL PATRÓN

Este sweater nació desde el duelo.
Desde esa quietud pesada que se instala cuando todo se detiene… pero algo sigue ardiendo por dentro.
Comienza en tonos pálidos y neutros, como si el color hubiera desaparecido.
Pero a medida que avanzas entre los puntos, aparece el rojo—intenso—como una herida que no se puede ocultar.
Este diseño es una meditación sobre la pérdida, sobre la rabia no dicha, y sobre ese amor que sigue ardiendo incluso cuando todo parece en silencio.
El sweater se teje sin costuras desde arriba hacia abajo.
Comienza con un montaje provisional y primero se trabaja la espalda. Luego se levantan los puntos para formar los hombros delanteros y dar forma al escote.
Una vez que se completa el delantero, se une con la espalda para continuar el cuerpo en circular.
Las mangas se recogen desde la sisa y se tejen también en circular.
Al final del cuerpo y las mangas, una sección de Jaquard agrega contraste y sentido al diseño.
El degradado se logra de forma sutil, combinando hilados y cambiando el mohair a lo largo del tejido.
