Stripe Freestyle
Stripe Freestyle: a child’s raglan sweater featuring whatever colors your kid chooses! Knit in 4 colors (or more) from the bottom up in the round, this design uses written instructions, a schematic and some tips on personalizing your striping choices. The sweater is completely reversible. If the kid spills on the front…turn it around. It requires virtually no sewing at the end, just weaving in ends and joining up the underarm stitches. Stripe Freestyle uses an Aran weight yarn that knits at 15 sts = 4”/10 cm after blocking on a size US 8 needle. This pattern requires the knitter to increase, decrease, and play with color.
Accessibility Note: This pattern offers an additional Low Vision pdf option, with Arial 24 point sans serif font in all black text and photo captions. It has no italics. All of the directions are fully written out. If there’s a chart included, there are also written instructions- the chart is not needed to complete the pattern.
A word about sizing: Please measure the wearer’s chest size and plan for plenty of ease. This is meant to be a relaxed fit…kids grow fast.
Stripe Freestyle is a raglan, oversized, bottom-up pullover, sized to fit sizes 2-4 (4 6, 6-8, 8-10), measuring 27 (30½, 32, 33½)“/69 (77, 81.5, 85.5) cm at the chest when blocked.
