Sock knitting is such a wonderful therapeutic activity. There`s just something about the little knitting needles and the tiny stitches that has enchanted so many of us. Sometimes we just want to knit an uncomplicated, soothing but beautiful sock and when times are difficult or busy, many of us reach for a simple sock project to soothe our nerves and bring some joy.

The Summer feeling socks uses a simple stitch pattern to create comforting, cozy socks which reminded me of the easy feeling of a relaxing Sunday. They can be knit in any of your two favourite colours and the pattern is easy and memorisable to knit.

These socks are knit from the cuff down with a twisted rib cuff and have a simple striping, slipped stitch pattern which runs down the leg and foot of the sock. There is a twisted rib heel-flap and gusset to match the cuff. There is only one colour knit in each round. This pattern uses the magic loop circular needle method (but can be knit with dpns).

The stitch pattern for this sock is both written out and charted for this pattern.

Size: (is measured from the circumference of your foot)
Length of foot is adjustable according to your own foot length. Sock is worn with negative ease.)
Size 1: 18cm – 20cm / 7”- 7.5”
Size 2: 20cm – 22cm / 8” – 8.5”
Size 3: 22.5cm – 24.5cm / 8.5” – 9.5”
Size 4: 24.5cm – 26cm / 9” – 10”

Gauge: 32sts x 40 rnds per 10cm / 4”
Needles Required: 2.25mm (US 1) circular needles for knitting magic loop (or whatever size gives you gauge).

Yarn required:
These socks were designed with a Homespun House soft sock 4ply yarn, 75% Superwash merino, 25% nylon. 370m/407yds per 100 grams. However, any fingering weight 4 ply sock yarn can be used, approximately 310m (339yds) in total. Sample shown is knit in size 3 for foot length Europe 39, US 8, UK 6, (24cm circumference foot) using:

• Main Colour: Rosegold 185m / 202yds, approx. 50g
• Contrast Colour: Ash 62m / 68dys, approx. 20g
