This easy to follow pattern of a square motif (10 pages) is written for one size. It contains step by step full written instructions in English using standard crochet abbreviations and US terms (stitch guide is given in the pattern). It also contains lots of pictures explaining all the tricky and difficult places and how the motifs are joined.

In autumn while walking with my dog in the fields in the mornings I saw many sunflowers, still beautiful in spite of coming rains and cold. I was inspired by them and decided to design a square motif which could look like a small sunflower.

My Sunflower Pillowcase consists of 9 square motifs crocheted in Overlay Crochet technique. If you use other color palette for this pattern, your pillow cover will look completely different, and unique.This square motif can become a part of pillow decoration (as I decided to use it). But you can also crochet a blanket or a bag with it or just use it as an appliqué for clothes. This motif is very thick as it has two layers due to big amount of overlay stitches. So if you decide to crochet double sided pillow cover – you will not even have to buy or sew a fabric pillow case.

Crochet level: Intermediate (front post stitches are used in this pattern), though an “adventurous” beginner can handle it!

The size of finished motif depends on the yarn and hook you use. My motif is approx. 11 cm (4 1/2 inches) large.

The colors are orange, yellow, grey, brown and terracotta. But you can of course use any colors you like!

Materials: Yarn in five colors, crochet hook 2.75 mm (C) or the size that will give an acceptable gauge; scissors and tapestry needle to weave the ends; ready pillow cover.

There are two copies of the pattern offered to download: one is very detailed with many pictures, and second copy is printer friendly (with written instructions only and no pictures).
