Sweet Little Gansey
May 2019:
Erratum:
The needle directions are incomplete:
Garter edges: 3.5mm
main pattern and swatch 4 mm.
April 2016 note:
Dear knitters,
I’ve heard from several of you that you found the Gansey pattern very small. My apologies! It was originally desigined to be as tight as a T-shirt, but I can understand that’s not to everybody’s taste.
I’ve added a new version of the Gansey pattern, the Gansey with no ease, which you can download whenever you wish.
Original: Negative ease
New version: No ease(neutral).
Note
I designed a sweater that used classical gansey/guernsey motifs in a modern, fashionable way. I used a classic off-white color, but the yarn has some slub in it and I paired it with a strand of glitter laceweight to add some modern appeal.
It’s great fun researching old gansey motifs: one of them is called “Polperro Laughing Boy”. I just had to use that one…
It’s knit in the round, bottom-up, with set-in sleeves that are knit separately.
It’s bordered with garter, included the picked-up and knit neckband.
It has a little bit of negative ease.
Errata: TW means Turn Work.
