About this design:
The English Bay Sweater is a casual and easy-to-wear pullover that is slightly fitted at the bust and “swingy” everywhere else. Small details abound. Front gathers create an empire waist, and are highlighted with a pretty lateral braid. Back darts emphasize the curve of the back. Short-rows provide a bit of extra coverage over the derrière so that the sweater can be worn with leggings as well as jeans.

Final Measurements:
At bust: 32 ¾” (35”, 37 ¼”, 39 ½”)41 ¼”, 43 ½”, 45”/83 (89, 95, 100)105, 111, 114 cm. Meant to be worn with -1” to +1” ease. Model has a 38” bust and is wearing size M1 with -1” ease.

Yarn:
Madelinetosh Tosh DK (100% superwash merino; 100 g; 225 yards/205 metres); or Rowan Softyak DK (76% cotton, 15% yak, and 9% nylon; 50 g; 148 yds/135 m). Purple version is knit with Madelinetosh Tosh DK in Curiosity colourway; pink version is knit with Rowan Softyak in Steppe (231) colourway.

Yardage:
6 (6, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8) skeins of Madelinetosh Tosh; 8 (9, 9, 9, 10, 11, 11) balls of Rowan Softyak DK; or approx. 1050 (1125, 1200, 1320, 1450, 1600, 1750) yards / 960 (1030, 1100, 1210, 1325, 1465, 1600) m of DK weight yarn. For the contrast turned picot hem and cuff, approximately 5 g (12 yds / 10 m) of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light.

Skill Level
The pattern is appropriate for an intermediate who is familiar with: provisional cast-on; turning a (contrast) picot hem; basic increases and decreases; W&T short rows; picking-up stitches; short row sleeve shaping; and three needle bind-off. Links to helpful video tutorials are provided in the pattern.

Pattern Notes
The sweater is worked in-the-round from the bottom hem to the armholes and then front and back are worked flat to the shoulders, which are joined with a three-needle bind-off. Stitches are then picked up around the armhole to work short-row set-in sleeves. Sleeves are worked in-the-round from the underarm to cuff. Two hem and cuff options are provided: a turned picot hem (pink version) or ribbed edging (purple version).
