Transenna
Transenna (lat.) is openwork, latticework, an ornamental criss-crossed framework, an arrangement of crossing laths or other thin strips of material (like a network). Decorative element in architecture and design. You have 2 (written, no chart) patterns here. These are soft and worm unisex 2 color winter beanie or slouchy hat & neck warmer, with interesting stretched texture and two wearable sides, like two different items, elegant and sporty at the same time.
You need :
1. Skills: intermediate knitting knowledge;
2. Needles:
* 16” (40cm) circular needle and DPNs (3 or 4+1) in
US 4/3,5mm for women’s hat or US 7/4.5mm for
men’s hat & neck warmer;
* auxiliary needle (circular or straight,4.5-5.5mm),
only for cast-on row;
* cable needle (you can cross 2 stitches without CN, it
will go faster); tapestry needle for weaving in ends;
3. Yarns - 2 different color balls of DK weight
woolen yarn, tightly stranded, in favorite color
combination:
* shown women’s beanie hat – normal size (L/XL) is
made with approx. 50gr Alize Superlana Klasik
(280m~307yds/100gr) woolen yarn, in beige color
and approx. 40gr Alize extra folklorik batik
(220m~241yds/100gr) self striping yarn;
* shown men’s beanie hat & neck warmer – normal
size (L/XL) is made with approx. 70gr Nako
Superlambs special (200m~220 yds/100gr) woolen
yarn, in black color and approx. 40gr Ice
yarns Master alpaca (175m~190 yds/50gr) in light
gray;
4. 12 stitch markers;
5. for the transformation of the neck warmer into
the beanie - one plastic, wooden or metal (two
holes!) drawstring stopper;
Dimension (flat, fixed):
- women’s size (US 4/3.5mm needles):
circumference - 52cm/20.8”, depth – 21.5cm/8.6”;
gauge: 28 sts/34 (purl) rows = 4”x4” = 10x10cm;
- men’s size (US 7/4.5mm needles):
circumference – 55-56cm/22”, depth – 24cm/9.6”;
gauge: 26 sts/30 (purl) rows = 4”x4” = 10x10cm;
