Trieste Cowl
DESCRIPTION
This pattern was inspired by the Canal Grande di Trieste. Located in the heart of Trieste, Italy, the Canal Grande was built to enable ships to arrive at the city center to load and unload their goods. Through all the hustle and bustle, the waters never calm. Those moving waters inspired the moving cable like stitches that cover my cowl pattern. The repetitive slipped stitches seem to be moving across the cowl much like the rippling waters of the canal.
This warm bulky cowl uses basic stitches to form a complex looking pattern that is easy enough for beginners to follow and interesting enough to keep advanced knitters engaged. The cowl is worked bottom up and is knit in the round. There is a textured border around the top and bottom with the main body of the cowl worked in a repeating mock cable stitch pattern. The stitch pattern is a 4 stitch repeat and the row pattern of the body is a 4 row repeat. Easily modify to increase or decrease the length or width to fit your desired size.
