Tulip Socks
General info
The Tulip Socks are based on a general toe up sock construction. Short rows form toe and heel. The body of the sock is a tube along which the perpetual pattern of tulips builds up length. The multiple repeat is 10 sts and the repeat is 14 rows. You can easily adjust length by adding more tiers. Follow the repeat boxes per size to centre the tulip motif. I have experimented with several kinds of yarn and even the littlest leftovers from my pitty-to-throw-away-box. To have an exact indication of each Tulip-stripe you need, I knitted one such stripe in M, frogged and measured this specific amount of meters (see info below).
Specific info
Yarn
All sock weight - from right to left (see 1st picture):
(1) Green/Red combination: Main colour - Merino Twist, Wol met Verve (80% superwash Merino wool, 20% nylon, 365m/100g - 399yds/100g), colourway verve swerve 2020031 (speckled green), 52 – 72m / 56 - 78yds (S - L). Contrast colour - Jawoll, Lang Yarns (75% Virgin Wool, 25% nylon, 210m/50g - 229yds/50g), colourway 9112 (red), 93 – 126 m / 101 – 137 yds (S – L).
(2) Make-your-own-gradient-combination from leftover yarn: One row of tulips (9 rows) needs precisely 7,38m/8yds in main colour size M and 5,13m/5yds in contrast colour size M. Estimate for toe, heel and ribbing is 7,38m/8yds for each.
(3) Popping colours combination: Main colour - Undercover Otter (80% Merino, 20% nylon, 400m/100g - 437yds/100g), colourway Squirm Leviathan (blue), 90 -110 m/98 – 120 yds (S - L).
Contrast colour 1 - Hedgehog Sock Yarn (90% Merino Wool, 10% nylon, 400m/100g - 437yds/100g), colourway Yolk (yellow), 102 – 122 m/111 – 133 yds (S - L). Contrast colour 2 - For the Love of Yarn (merino nylon, 400m/100g - 437yds/100g), colourway 2 Flou pink, 20 -28m/21-30yds (S – L).
(4) Classic colour combination: Main colour - Regia sock wool, Schachenmayr (75% Virgin Wool, 25% nylon, 210m/50g - 229yds/50g), colourway marine 324, 116 – 136m/126 – 148yds (S - L). Contrast colour white 0600, 74 – 94m/80– 102yds (S - L).
The meterage/yardage is a pretty precise estimate, but be aware that every yarn type knits up and weighs differently. For sock (2) I measured precisely how many meters/yards one row of whole tulips (9 rows = one whole tulip before the pattern staggers) consumes. I knitted the 9 rows for size M, frogged and measured.

I am very curious which type of sock you prefer. Funny enough my 19 year old preferred the classic blue …
