I’ve fallen in love with a river. Every summer my family loads up the dogs, packs the ‘66 Alladin trailer and spends as much time as possible at the Turner Flats Campground on the banks of the St. Joe River in Idaho. This shawl was my sitting by the campfire knitting project and every time I see this shawl, I’m reminded of lazy summer days at the river. There is something special about wrapping yourself up with a bit of summer when the weather turns to winter.

Turner Flats has traits familiar with Shetland lace knitting, in that the lace motifs are worked on both the right and wrong sides. The border of the shawl is a knitted on border. Increases are worked on the stockinette sections which makes for a triangular shawl that is longer in the wings than at the point.

Gauge is recommended but not critical for this project.

Additional materials needed include: stitch markers and blocking tools, row counters are recommended but not vital.

This pattern would be well suited for solid and kettle colored yarns. Yarns with subtle variegation would also be suited for this project.
