Upstairs
Inspired by Canon Hand Dyes and the new Downton Abbey film, Upstairs is a sweet cardigan dressed up with textured stripes for those precious mini skein sets that you can’t resist. Featuring top-down, seamless construction and i-cord button bands knit along with the body of the sweater, this is the perfect project for intermediate knitters who love minimal finishing! Upstairs will be the cardigan in your closet you always grab for, whether you are going to tea with the Queen or taking a turn about the garden.

Sizes
A (B, C, D)(E, F, G, H)
29 (35, 41, 47)(53, 59, 65, 71)” / 71 (86.5, 101.5, 117)(132, 147.5, 162.5, 178) cm actual bust measurement of finished garment, including overlap.
Choose a size that is 2-8” / 5-20.5cm larger than your full bust measurement.
The modeled sample is size B with about 2” of positive ease.
Yardage/Metreage Required
Main Color: 800 (900, 1000, 1100)(1200, 1300, 1400, 1500) yds / 732 (823, 914, 1006)(1097, 1189, 1280, 1372) m
Contrast Color (Cumulative): 110 (120, 140, 150)(170, 180, 200, 220) yds / 101 (110, 128, 137)(155, 165, 183, 201) m
Note that lengths are approximate and can vary based on your
yarn, gauge, and modifications.
Upstairs is meant to show off those delightful mini skeins we love to collect, especially sets by Canon Hand Dyes which feature 5 gram / 20 yard mini skeins. Note that CC yardage is cumulative. If using the recommended yarn, 1 (1, 1, 1)(2, 2, 2, 2) mini skein sets are required. Because of the yoke shaping, the beginning stripes take less yarn than the final stripes. I recommend planning for 20-40 yards of 9 (9, 10, 10)11, 11, 12, 12) colors (depending on size) to ensure you will have enough to complete the last stripes of your yoke.
Gauge
22 sts and 32 rows = 4” / 10 cm in stockinette worked flat, taken after blocking.
