Vala Cardi
CONSTRUCTION
The cardi is worked from the top down in a simple pattern of knit and purl stitches.
Working back and forth at all times, the sleeves are worked as part of the back/fronts to create dolman type sleeves.
Starting at the top back/shoulder line, stitches are cast on for the back and sleeves and worked downward in pattern. Before reaching the bottom of the armholes, short rows are incorporated to shape the underside of the sleeves.
The back stitches are left on hold while stitches are picked up along the shoulder line for the right front and sleeve which are then worked down to the bottom of the armhole, increasing for the overlapping V front along the way. The sleeve bottom is again shaped with short rows, and back and front of the sleeve are joined with a three-needle cast-off.
The left front and sleeve are worked to mirror the right one.
Fronts and back are joined at the bottom of the armholes and worked in one piece to the desired length. After completing the V front increases, the fronts are worked straight down.
An i-cord cast-off is worked all around the front and bottom edges as well as the sleeve cuffs.
The matching belt is worked separately if desired.
