VALA SLEEP MASK AND POUCHES
This sleep mask and the accompanying pouches are a fun and fast little project worked in our PURE silk yarn. A pretty item that will make an elegant gift.

CONSTRUCTION
The sleep mask is worked sideways in the round. Increases and decreases shape of the mask. The front can be worked with or without the knit and purl stitch pattern as desired.
A narrow i-cord is worked along the edge of the mask to outline the shape.
The casing for the elastic band is worked separately. It has added length to achieve the pretty ruche effect once the elastic band is drawn through. The mask is padded with batting, and the elastic is drawn through the casing and fastened at the sides of the mask.
The pouches are worked from the top down with casings for the crochet drawstrings.

einrúm PURE silk
Yarn usage: 50 g for a sleep mask, a small pouch, and a large pouch, or for two sleep masks
In the pictures, the mask and pouches are worked in colour 4202 Powder.

NEEDLES
Set of 2.5 mm US 1.5 double pointed needles (or long circular needle for working magic loop)
2.5 mm, 80 cm US 1.5, 32 in circular needle for i-cord edge
3 mm US C crochet hook for drawstrings

Approx. 40 cm 15.75 in elastic band, 1 cm 0.5 in wide for the strap

TENSION
In stocking stitch on 2.5 mm US 1.5 needles
10 cm 4 in = 30 sts
10 cm 4 in = 40 rows
The tension is measured after washing. Note that the silk will grow up to 10% in both length and width when washed. Therefore, the knitted piece will appear smaller while on the needles than the finished result after washing.
