Handpainted & variegated yarns can be quite irresistible! However, they can be difficult to match to a pattern. Patterns that are too complex can be obscured by the color changes; patterns that are too plain are just not as fun to knit. Don’t let those beautiful handpainted & variegated yarns languish in your knitting basket for years! This rather basic cabled sock with a heel flap and wide toe has random-appearing cables that you pop in wherever the color(s) you’d like to highlight comes up in the yarn, which keeps the knitting interesting, and also helps you to give up a little control with the randomness of the cables. This pattern is similar to my Speckled Cable Socks pattern, but designed with wider cables to accommodate longer spans of color in variegated yarns.
