Vintage Walrus
The original Walrus blanket is one of the favourite projects that I developed last year.
I loved the pattern so much that I believed the blanket had a great deal more potential and that is why I decided to “colour it”. Normally the process to introduce a new palette to a blanket starts with a feeling. I wanted to keep the original concept of warmth, and comfort like a “Mother hug” while adding a new depth and dimension with the use of colour. The palette is Jewel like, and the three-dimensional effect of the squares lends itself perfectly to be inspired by one of my favourite Artists: Gustav Klimt. I worked for 3 months making countless squares until the colours “clicked together” just like the beautiful blanket that envelops the two lovers in Klimt’s most famous work “The Kiss”. The photography was the next part of the story, to show the similar feeling of magic, dreamy atmosphere and soft hues that I love so much from the painting. I hope you will love my blanket, it has been a true labour of love and I hope it will bring great joy and happiness to your homes.
Thanks to you all,
Lucia xx
