Wall Street Hat
Inspired by luxury and my neighborhood in New York City, Wall Street Hat, is a cashmere hat with feminine lace detail that is both warm and stylish. The hat is knit in the round, from the bottom up in a worsted weight yarn, making it a quick and satisfying knit. The incredibly soft yarn and intuitive stitch pattern will help the hat fly off your needles and onto your deserving head. Whether you have been looking for a project for that special skein of yarn you have been holding on to or need an excuse to treat yourself, this hat is the answer.
Pattern is one size. As written, the hat is loose fitting and fits heads between 21 and 24 inches (53 - 61 cm) in circumference. My head is 21.5” (55 cm) for reference. If you would like a tighter fitting hat, then I would recommend going down a needle size or two. One could also add an extra lace repeat and turn it into a slouchy hat (please note this will increase yardage required).
As most knitters don’t like to swatch for a hat and use their hat as their swatch, gauge is taken over 2” (5 cm) unblocked in stockinette with US 7 (4.5 mm) needles.
The hat uses approximately 130 yards of worsted weight yarn. Sample was made with 1 skein of Cachet by The Plucky Knitter. The colorway used in the pattern is Empire and was specially dyed for the trunk show The Plucky Knitter held at Annie & Company Needlepoint and Knitting in the Upper East Side in NYC this past spring. They do, however, have many other grey options.
Instructions are written and charted.
