Waves of Tory, sometimes affectionately known as Dip & Dive, is the perfect beginner English country dance. While it’s a fast-moving line dance that will keep you on your toes, the steps are easy, repetitive, and, best of all—unlike most English country dances, much of the dance doesn’t have to be synced to music. This asymmetrical shawl is knit from the top down and can be customized to any yardage or weight of yarn by simply repeating the main chart as many times as desired. Its simple lace motif creates a gentle wave effect punctuated with a droplet pattern and framed with twisted stitches. Picot selvedges add a delicate “something extra” (and make blocking a cinch), and a twisted rib border finishes off the pointed edge.
Pattern has been tech edited and tested. Lace is charted only.
