Western Skies Cowl
The cowl starts as a classic top down triangular shawl with a garter tab. When the desired width of the cowl is reached, the stitches are joined and worked in the round until the desired height of the cowl is reached. It is then worked flat again, decreasing until just a few stitches are left.
Inspiration
This cowl is inspired by the amazing skies and clouds of western Nevada. The view of the sky here almost always includes the tops of the mountains unless you look straight up. There are days with blue skies and fluffy clouds just hanging out over the mountains and the amazing Sierra Nevada wave clouds that form over the valleys as the wind rushes down the mountains.
This cowl could also easily be knit with just one skein of fingering weight yarn, or with 2 different colors of yarn, there are so many possibilities.
Approximately 150-175 yards of each yarn were used.
Finished size:
circumference – 26 inches / 66 cm
