There moments in life when a new love comes along from out of the blue and sweeps us off our feet. Sometimes this love is a person, other times it might be an idea, a book, a skill or even a craft project.

This shawl is a bit like that. The lace starts from a single stitch, a spark, and flares quickly into an addictive little knit tha like any intense romance has cycles of intensity interspersed with the stockinette of everyday life.

The simplicity of the design offers a gentle introduction to a variation on the traditional Estonian Star Stitch, as it is used only in the central panel.

The pattern is both written and charted, with pattern rows on the right side only.

Adaptable to any yardage, and a range of yarn weights from lace to heavy fingering.
