Vertical details cut clean lines through bands of garter, worked flat (no purling!). It’s joined neatly down the center (and sleeves) with a simple crocheted slip-stitch edge (quick and easy!) worked after the fact. With interesting construction that hints at saddle shoulders and shaping that creates a seamless version of set-in sleeves, Whiskey & Rye is a top-down almost-seamless sweater that fits like it was made for you (because it was).

Cardigan Tip
Prefer a cardigan? Skip the front seam and work the lower ribbing flat. Pick-up along the front edges to create ribbed button bands (before you work the neckline and lower ribbing).

Gauge
24 st and 36 rows with larger needle over 4 in/10cm in garter stitch (blocked) - don’t stretch when measuring. Growth is anticipated in the pattern design.

A note about garter

This sweater was designed with the characteristics of garter stitch in mind. Growth is already anticipated, which means it will fit smaller until blocked, then relax in both width and length afterward.

Recommended Ease
Positive ease included for a comfortable fit. Garter stitch does cling a bit, even with ease. If you prefer a looser fit, consider going up one size. Example size 38 is shown worn on a size 38 bust.
