Wiltshire Wrap

Wiltshire Wrap is designed to be a blanket you can wear. The little capped sleeves turn an otherwise simple wrap into a wearable garment. Wrap yourself up in the thick fabric and style it with a shawl pin and you will be as snug as a bug in a rug! Knitting and creating the fringe at the same time as the garment eliminates the need for joining yarn ends and the fun knots add a polished finish to a cosy knit. The wrap is knitted back and forth but uses circular needles due to the number of stitches and the weight of the yarn.

Notes This wrap is worked flat from the bottom up. The arm holes are worked all in one row using Elizabeth Zimmerman’s one row button hole technique. The fringe is worked as you knit by working 4 extra stitches either side of the wrap. These stitches are dropped and unravelled at the end to reveal fringe. Joining all new balls of yarn at the end of a row will mean there will be no ends to sew in as they will become part of the fringe. Using extra yarn for this is taken into consideration in the yarn amounts. Both charts and written instructions for cable borders (LCB and RCB) are provided.
