Woodward Hat
This hat is also available on September Knits website
My Blakely Hat was the inspiration for this new hat design. I love the simplicity of the Blakely Hat with its slipped stitch ridges running up the hat. I wanted to play with this technique of slipped stitches. With this hat, Woodward, I created a stitch pattern that slips stitches with your working yarn held in the front of the work. This creates a horizontal yarn strand that runs over and in front of the slipped stitches. I really liked how this design element worked out and I hope you do, too. Woodward is a very simple and fast hat, yet there are professional details within this hat that make it extra special, such as: optional provisional cast-on and Kitchener stitch, to build your knitting skills.
Pattern Description: Woodward comes with two brim options; a grafted folded brim or just a folded brim. The Woodward stitch pattern is used in both versions. After the ribbed brim is worked in the round, the Woodward stitch pattern is then worked for the body of the hat. I have color blocked these hats, but you can easily continue the hat body in one color if you prefer. The Woodward stitch pattern stops at the crown shaping and you will knit stockinette in the round as you make the crown shaping. The hat end is then grafted together to give it a flawless final touch.
