Wrap-Around Cowl
Wrap-Around Cowl is knit lengthwise, working back and forth in garter stitch with rows of dropped stitches. When buttoned, it becomes a versatile cowl that can be simply draped around your neck or wrapped twice around for a close fit. Buttonholes are placed while you knit, so there is no need to pick up stitches at the end.
A simple and enjoyable project, prefect for any level knitter. I used The Fibre Company’s Canopy Worsted which is so beautiful to work with--and you’ll only need 3 skeins for this project.
Project Information:
Gauge: 16-18 sts = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch
Yarn: 275 yds worsted weight yarn, shown in Canopy Worsted by The Fibre Company (20% bamboo, 50% baby alpaca, 30% merino wool; 50 gm = 100 yards), 3 skeins in Ginger. Use a very soft yarn that feels comfortable worn closely around your neck.
Needles and other supplies:
• 29” / 74 cm circular knitting needles in size US 7 / 4.5 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
• Tapestry needle or crochet hook to weave in ends
• 4 buttons, ¾” / 19 mm
