This cape is really fun to knit with the colors changing in each section, the lace and the short rows:

• The cape starts at one front edge and is knit sideways around the body to the other front edge.

• The color of the yarn changes in each section.

• The flared shape is created by short rows worked in each section.

• The lace on the edge is worked at the same time as the body of the cape so it doesn’t need to be added later as a separate edging.

• There is no need to weave in yarn ends, they are all hidden into the neck band.

The yarn shown is hand dyed in custom shades by Kerry Graber of Jorstad Creek in a fingering weight Icelandic lambswool. It is just striking! You could also use yarn from a line with lots of shades such as Jamieson, Harrisville or Cascade. Or, you could go bold and pick contrasting colors from many other companies. Whatever yarn you use, you will need 250 yards of each color.
