The inspiration for this hat comes from the woodland through the wardrobe in C. S. Lewis’ classic Narnia book series. I imagined Mr. Tumnus, the faun wearing this hat (although I didn’t include holes for his horns). There are leaves around the band of the hat leading to cables up the sides.

This hat can be worked in five sizes. Choose a size a bit smaller than the wearer’s head; the band is not stretchy.

Circumference: 16 (17½ 19, 20½, 22) inches /
40.6 (44.5, 48.3, 52, 55.9) cm

Height: 6¾ (8, 8, 8, 9¼) inches /
17.1 (20.3, 20.3, 20.3, 23.5) cm

The gauge is 5 stitches per inch on the larger needle in Stockinette Stitch.

The Through the Wardrobe Hat is constructed by making the leaf lace border first, sewing the ends (6 stitches) of the edging together, picking up stitches for the body of the hat and working to the crown.
