This is a pattern for a lacy edged cowl. The pattern includes instructions for making 3 different sizes ( 12 inches x 12 inches: 24 inches x 12 inches, and 60 inches x 12 inches.) There are also instructions for attaching the edging so that it “stands up”, of lies down on the body of the cowl.
The lace cowl can be worn as a spring garment, draping over your shoulders in a way that won’t fall off. Or it can be made to be warmer, by wrapping it around your neck and shoulders. However, you may have a favorite way to wear cowls that’s different from mine. The lace stitch is a very open one, so it is suitable for at least three seasons, in addition to being very feminine.

The picture is taken in the smaller size so that you can see the stitches clearly.

The focal stitch is a true lace.

The stitches are both charted, and written out line by line.

Skill Level: Intermediate - Intermediate+ (assuming a good working knowledge of both knitting, purling, and lace knitting.)

The yarn used in the sample is made with Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Honor, but Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sport or Sportmate can easily be substituted.

The cowl was expertly test knitted by Mimi Sevimli who can be contacted at, karal3@ yahoo.com.
