Numerous editions have been published from the 1st edition in 1973, 2nd in Aug 1973, 3rd 1974, 4th 1975, 5th 1979, 6th 1981 (white print on pink cover), 7th 1984 and possibly an 8th edition (unknown year). Dust cover can have white lace on pink cover but book is most commonly found without dustcover and is most often maroon bound with gold lettering on the spine. The 2nd edition has a brown & white bound cover. A paper errata has been seen inside the 6th edition and page 279 replacement in the 3rd edition.

Two fold out pattern sheets are placed in the back of the book.

This book is a compilation of patterns taken from numerous sources; it weighs 2.7 kg. The patterns are all in English. There are numerous quotes and Christian references scattered between the patterns. Some non-pattern text is in Afrikaans.

There are 18 sections: some only have one or two pages and one or two patterns. Others have more patterns.

The book’s first section has tablecloths/doilies which are renamed with a female name e.g. Theresa, Tracey.
