My grandmother taught me how to knit when I was six years old. I remember my first project, it was a coat hanger cover in a minty colored yarn. It looked wonky and was full of mistakes, but my grandmother embellished it with red embroidered flowers and made it a masterpiece <3.

I grew up in Switzerland and back then in the 80’s all children had handicraft lessons all through primary school, 4 hours a week. Those were the best! We learned how to knit, crochet, sew, do needlepoint, weave and much more. Knitting and crochet is what stuck with me until today.

When I moved to the US in 2010 I found friends through a knitting/crochet meetup group. We have become much more than just knitting buddies since then. It was them who encouraged me to start designing. I mainly design smaller items like cowls, shawlettes and other accessories. With my two little boys it can be challenging to find the time for larger designs, so this is a good compromise, I design something smaller, but I get it done.

It is also through one of my knitting group friends that I heard about the Master Hand Knitter program by the Knitting Guild Association. Now working on Level 2, my goal is to eventually become a Master Hand Knitter and make knitting an even bigger and serious part of my life.
