I have been knitting since I was 14, designing for my own business, Baa Baa Knits (BBK) since 1990, selling patterns & kits at craft shows and boutiques around Ontario. I worked the Patons Design Studio for 4 years and then freelanced for major yarn companies (Patons, Bernat, Classic Elite Yarns, Lion Brand and others) and magazines (Vogue Knitting, Family Circle Knitting, Better Homes and Garden’s Knit It, Interweave Knits and Knitter’s Digest). I have contributed to other author’s books. I spent years in the retail industry working for The Bay (Hudson’s Bay Company).

My foray into authoring a book began when I was a consultant and designer, on a book titled “Maran Illustrated Knitting & Crochet” by Maran Graphics. Then in January 2008, a division of Random House, Potter Craft, published my first solo book “12 Months of Knitting”, photographed by the lovely, kind and super-talented Jennifer Burrell (Jens shots are used here and on my site of patterns from my book).

These days, I’m honing my creative writing skills, continuing joanneyordanou.com with lots of patterns (for sale and FREE), both knitting and crochet and Spoonflower textiles.
