Julia Frank
From Rowan Magazine 51, Dr. Margy Cockburn has a “frankly fabulous” interview with Rowan Yarn LTD’s newest team member on page 112 -- Julia Frank…
Indelicate though it may sound, this is a designer whose descriptors demand the use of several “F” words.
Julia Frank - Her first designs for Rowan appeared in Studio 26… Born in NYC to Hungarian parents, she had a childhood obsession with the Spielberg “ET” character.
free - an approach to living, sometimes good and sometimes hard to handle…
Front - as in a mix of daring-do, bluff, and well-founded self-belief…
fate - her reaction to her razed-home from an electrical fire was a sort of “nothing-lasts-for-ever-so-why-focus-on-permanence” attitude…
flair - a natural factor and Julia has it in buckets. Yarn company Phildar spotted it and hired her. It gave her the base to create “Julikaworks” in 2010 at the Paris fashion week…
and as to Julia’s debut at Rowan:
“Ever since I started knitting, Rowan has inspired me. It has the best yarns, the most elegance, and a real understanding of the difference between ‘easy’ and ‘simple’. I am so proud to be working with the company and it just eels as if my ideas have finally found their perfect home.”
The last word on Julia is fabulous - find it on Rowan 51 on pages 12, 13, 22, 23, 32, and 33.
