Nic Corrigan - Machine Knit Community
Knitwear designer, tutor & author
I first discovered knitting machines at University and I was immediately hooked. I decided to specialise in knitwear for my fashion design degree and my graduate Final Collection was knitted on my fine gauge Knitmaster knitting machine. After a career as a knitwear designer in industry, I decided to return to my creative roots and start my own business that would focus on design and slow fashion with an environmental conscience.
Now I pour my creativity into designing machine knitting patterns. I also focus a lot of my energy on teaching others to machine knit and supporting them in their journeys through one-to-one teaching, workshops and online classes.
In 2020 I founded the Machine Knit Community as a passion project to help others get the most from their knitting machines. Today the Community continues to grow with over 750 members worldwide.
In 2023 I published my first machine knitting book Machine Knitting Techniques: Fair Isle which is part of a library of brand new machine knitting books published by Crowood Press. I’m delighted by this resurgence of interest in machine knitting and will continue to push to see machine knitting valued as a true craft in its own right.
