DESIGN DETAILS
A burst of color add to this beautiful traditional blanket in any nursery
- The Aran style blanket is worked in three panels making it portable
- The center panel is very outstanding with large bobbles and open work
- The two side panels are identical, with two types of cables and bramble stitch.

TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PATTERN
Links to videos for selected techniques are included. I look for videos as close as possible to the instructions I have written. Sometimes they may be slightly different but still very helpful.

- Approximately 36 inches-(91.4 cm) wide x 38 inches-(96.5 cm) long
YARN USED FOR SAMPLE
- 11 balls Rowan Cashsoft dk
- 57% extra fine merino—33% acrylic microfibre—10% cashmere
- 1.75 ounces-(50 grams)—143 yards-(130 meters) each
For the afghan to be the correct size, it is not the brand of yarn that matters, but the GAUGE that is important. It is best to refer to the yardage to determine how many skeins or balls to purchase. 1573 yards-(1438 meters) are required
NEEDLES
- Size 6-(4 mm)
- Cable needle
NOTIONS
- Gauge ruler
- Yarn markers-a thin cotton yarn (#10 crochet thread is great to use as yarn markers) in a contrasting color
- Tracking sheet – included with pattern
- Tapestry needle
GAUGE
- 22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches-(10 cm) in stockinette stitch on size 6-(4 mm) needles or needles to obtain the correct gauge
