Pattern Description from Vogue Knitting, Spring/Summer 2010: “Paden builds this extraordinary tank, knit in crisp ‘Summer Line’ by Universal Yarn, with bands of various 6-stitch lace patterns, beginning with the scalloped hemline; it’s then worked in the round to the armhole shaping. The deep V neck overlaps delicately; the edges are finished with pretty reverse single crochet.”

“Sleeveless top is worked in the round to the underarm, with a surplice front V-neck and crochet edgings.”

Notes:

  1. The wave pat is a multiple of 6 when worked in the round and a multiple of 6 plus 1 when worked in rows.
  2. When working chart in the round, work all rounds from right to left. When working wave pat st in rows, work RS rows form right to left and WS rows from left to right.
  3. When working rnd 1 of leaf pat and rnd 3 of wave pat charts, the pattern slides forward as a double decrease is worked at the end of each repeat to form a point at the tops of the motifs. The first stitch of the upcoming rep is worked tog with the last 2 sts of the previous rep. When working circularly slip the first stitch of the rnd purlwise without working it. It will become a part of the last rep.
  4. When shaping lace pat, if there is not an increase to compensate for a decrease, or vice versa, then do now work the increase or decrease, but work the sts in St st.
