#07 Lace Tunic

Pattern Description from Vogue Knitting, Spring/Summer 2009: “The main body of Mari Tobita’s long tunic, knit in ‘Mandalay’ by Reynolds/JCA, features two front sections and a back worked in a diagonal lace pattern. The contrasting lace that lines the edges is knit separately.”
“Loose-fitting long sleeveless tunic with the front bands worked around from the back neck to form shoulders.”
Knitted Measurements:
- Sized for Small to Medium, Large to X-Large, 1X to 2X
- Bust 35¾ (39½, 49½)“/91 (100, 125.5)cm
- Length 32 (32½, 34)“/81, (82.5, 86.5)cm
Materials:
- 8 (9, 10) 1¾oz/50g hanks (each approx 98yd/88m) of Reynolds/JCA, Inc. Mandalay (silk) in #5 lime
- One pair size 8 5mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
- One set (4) size 8 (5mm) dpn
- Size D-3 (3.25mm) crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Waste yarn of same yarn weight as main yarn for provisional cast-on
Additional Gauge: 20 sts = 4.5/11.5cm and 18 rows = 4”/10cm over border lace using size 8 (5mm) needles. Take time to check gauge.
Notes:
- When shaping in lace pats, if there is not a compensating yo for the corresponding dec, then omit either the yo or dec and work the sts in St st.
- K the first and last st of every row for selvage sts. Work all dec’s inside these sts. They are not included in the finished measurements.
- The lace border is worked in two pieces, then grafted tog and sewn along back edge and along front edges, forming shoulders.
