#08 Puffy Vest
Pattern description from Knit.1, Winter 2007/2008: “Halfway between grunge and hip-hop, Ruthie Nussbaum’s zip-up puffer vest with kangaroo pockets epitomizes the Nineties. It’s knit with ‘Velvet Wool’ from Nashua Handknits/Westminster Fibers in one piece to the armholes, then split for fronts and back. To get its ‘puff,’ the entire vest is worked identically twice, then sewn together over a quilt batting.”
The Measurements:
- S (M, L, XL)
- Bust (closed and before quilting) 38 (41.5, 45, 49)“/96.5 (105.5, 114, 124.5)cm
- Length 22 (22.5, 23.5, 24)“/56 (57, 60, 61)cm
Notions:1 package crib-size quilt batting, 20 (20, 22, 22)“/50 (50, 55, 55)cm jacket zipper, stitch holders, tapestry needle, coordinating sewing thread.
Notes from Knit.1, Winter 2007/2008:
- “The schematic measurements reflect the pieces before quilting. After quilting, the finished vest will fit more snugly than the measurements suggest.”
- “The vest is worked in two separate pieces, then sewn together of the batting and quilted.”
