An argyle-inspired design, Soibelman’s winning Gloriana cardigan is knit from the top down in Adele by S. Charles Collezione/ Stacy Charles Fine Yarns, beginning with the back, in ENglish mesh lace, open twist rib and a leaf pattern. Shoulders are worked separately in short rows before casting on for the back neck and working to armhole shaping. Front pieces are picked up along cast-on shoulder stitches and worked to the armhole. A picot edging in Debbie Bliss’s Angel gives a frill to the sleeves and hem; a draping collar in Ito’s Sensai creates a Gothic aura.

Mohair contest-winning close-fitting cardigan is worked top down in three different lace patterns.
