The 100 Square blanket is perhaps the most fun project I have ever made and I’ll tell you the reason. It is simple, so simple. Most all of the squares are mitered and picked up as you go, and most all of the ends are woven in as you go. Once you get the hang of and memorize how to easily pick up the stitches and decreasing down to create a square you’ll never look back. Then your creativity can take over. You can pick up and put down the blanket at any time, you’ll never lose your place. It’s a beautifully stunning and functional project that you will love to make, love to keep, and love to gift.

As far as this “pattern” goes, it is a guide and only a guide. I provide links that will direct you to the different free and paid-for patterns I used to make my blanket. And I wrote out how to make each of the squares in the sample blanket for you. But of course, I think you should change anything and everything and make it all your own if you’d like. If not, make one just like mine. Either way, it’ll be good fun and you’ll have a lovely blanket at the end.

Each block measures about 4-inches square.

Weight in grams:
The total blanket with edging weighs 670 grams.

Each square uses approximately 7 grams (the square weights vary slightly due to the number of colors used and the seams on some of the squares that are made separately).

Needles: US size 3 / 3.25mm needles. I used short 7-inch straight needles but a 24-inch circular could also be used. Use the size needle that provides the correct gauge for you.

Gauge: 7 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch.
