Pattern description from Knit.1, Summer 2007: “Vladimir Teriokhin’s V-neck garden dress grows with pretty pleats all in a row – at the Empire waist and bell sleeves, to be exact. Heavily textured columns of moss stitch, garter stitch, cables and lace drop from the bodice, all blooming in ‘Organic Cotton’ by Lion Brand Yarn.”

Stuff:

  • 23 (25, 27) hanks in #3 Bark of Organic Cotton by Lion Brand Yarn, 1¾oz/50g hanks, each approx 82yd/75m
  • One pair size 8 (5mm) needles or size to get the gauge
  • One dpn size 8 (5mm) for pleats
  • Cable needle

Measurements:

  • Small (Medium, Large)
  • Bust 32 (36, 40)“/81 (91.5, 101.5)cm
  • Length 36.5 (37, 37.5)“/92.5 (94, 95)cm
  • Upper arm 12 (13, 14)“/30.5 (33, 35.5)cm

Additional Gauge: 18 sts and 26 rows to 4”/10cm over rib pat using size 8 (5mm) needles

Notes:

  • When working in the chart pats, the stitch repeat for the skirt alternates between 35 and 36 sts and for the sleeves between 30 and 31 sts. The cast-on sts will use the 35 (or 30)-st repeat. All st counts refer to the rows without the double yarn overs.
  • The back and front pleats are worked differently.
