Pattern description from Knit.1, Fall 2007: “Big enough for a notebook, strong enough for a textbook or two, PD Cagliastro’s carryall is knit in one piece using Lion Brand Yarn’s ‘Lion Wool,’ then felted. After cutting strips on front and back, they are then woven.”

Stuff:

• 4 skeins each in #147 Purple and #125 Cocoa of Lion Wool by Lion Brand Yarn, 3 oz/85g skeins, each approx 158yd/144m (wool)
• 2 skeins each in #132 Lemongrass and #133 Pumpkin
• One pair size 7 (4.5mm) needles or size to get the gauge
• 1yd/1m leather strip ½“/1.5cm wide, one large button, 1yd/1m of sturdy fabric (for optional lining of bag), sewing needle and thread & yarn needle.

The Measurements:

• Approx 25”/63.5cm wide x 78.8”/63.5cm long before felting
• Approx 16”/40.5cm wide x 10”/25.5cm tall x 4”/10cm deep after felting and assembly

Note: See pages 44 and 45 for a workshop on this bag. It is made in 1 piece and felted before cutting the strips for weaving.
