Pattern Description from Vogue Knitting, Spring/Summer 2010: “Using complementary colorways of heathery ‘Symphony’ from Prism Yarns, Laura Bryant banded this bolero jacket in a Fibonacci-inspired striping sequence, starting from the center-back provisional cast-on and radiating out to he sleeve edges. Mitered shaping curves the garter-stitch front borders.”

  • Contrasting worsted weight yarn (scrap yarn)
  • Two size 8 (5mm) circular needles, 29”/74cm long OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
  • One pair size 7 (4.5mm) needles
  • Size H/8 (4.5mm) crochet hook (for chain-st provisional cast-on)
  • Stitch markers

Gauge:

  • 19 sts and 28 rows = 4”/10cm over St st using size 8 (5mm) circular needle.

Notes:

  1. Left half of shrug is worked in one piece from provisional cast-on at center back to cuff.
  2. Right half is worked in the opposite direction from provisional cast-on.
