Difficulty Level
Intrepid Intermediate/Skill Builder: Requires knowledge of casting on, knitting, purling, increasing, decreasing, knitting in the round on double-pointed and circular needles, stranded color work, binding off, and hand-sewing and beading during the finishing process.
Gauge
20 sts and 16 rounds = 4” (10cm) in color stitch pattern using a single-strand of yarn on a US size 9 (5.5mm) needle or needle size to obtain gauge.
Yarn and Materials
Yarn Requirements
125 yds (115m) or 2oz each of Black (A) and White (B) worsted weight, feltable yarn. For best results, we recommend you use Stonehedge Fiber Mill’s Shepherd’s Wool
Needles and Other Materials
- 2 US size 9 (5.5mm) 16” (40cm) circular needles
- A spare US size 9 (5.5mm) needle of any sort to perform the 3-needle bind off
- 2 stitch markers, 1 of a different color to mark the beginning of the round
- Sewing or small gauge sharp needle for bead-work
- Tapestry needle for weaving in yarn ends
- Spare small gauge double pointed needle to help with the fiishing process - it may get glue on it! Locktight Extra Time Control glue for securing the purse in the purse frame
