Make the flaps the same color, or in a contrasting color as I have in this sample!
And look! You get all the sizes from newborn to adult.

Lovely baby shower hat… although, CAUTION MUST BE TAKEN in placing hats with long tails on small babies that can move about.
For the little ones, why not just make the ear flaps, and leave off the ties. You could add a button on one of the ear flaps if you wish. Great as a photo prop for the little ones!!

As always my patterns are written without any abbreviations, and so they are easy to understand.

You will be working with one pair of straight needles, size 10mm (US 15), and 3 strands of worsted weight yarn. Wind the yarn into 3 separate balls before starting, and let them move freely on the floor as you work. (That’s if you want to work at warp speed as I do! If you would like your project to take a while, then work from the skeins.) This project can be worked up in 1 hour, and if you are not speedy, then for sure under 2 hours.
