OLD SHALE Stitch
(sometimes referred to as Fan and Feather)
Fits newborn to 3 months.
Includes instructions for the hat and the cocoon.

MATERIALS:
Worsted weight yarn (180-200 yards)
(OR any size yarn desired.)
(Hat: 40 yds; Cocoon: 180 yds.)

6mm straight knitting needles (US 10), (Worked flat.)
Yarn needle for weaving in ends.
Buttons optional, (Sew the sides to form a bag, or choose buttons that will fit in the spaces between stitches)
