Pattern description from Vogue Knitting, Spring/Summer 2008: “Stockinette blocks of intarsia on the front of Mari Lynn Patrick’s mod dress, knit in Dale of Norway’s ‘Svale,’ conform to the body’s curves. (The back is worked in solid stockinette.) A deep U neckline makes for ideal layering over close-fitting tees.”

“Standard-fitting mini-dress with plain back and intarsia pattern to mimic plates of carved rock. Sized for Small, Medium, Large and shown in size Small on page 84.”

  • One pair size 5 (3.75mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
  • One size 9 (5.5mm) needle for open cast-on
  • Bobbins
  • Small amount of waste yarn

Notes:

  • The back is worked in solid black (A) in St st. The front is worked in color block pat foll body chart.
  • Work each segment of color with a separate ball or bobbin of yarn; do not strand yarn across back of work.
