This is a close fitting beanie designed to fit a female over the top of hair almost in a 1960’s style, with the tips of ear lobes exposed. Check that your gauge is spot on for both stitch and row, otherwise your hat may not fit!

You absolutely must wash this hat before using or taking photos. You will see how much less crumpled cables and purl sections look once washed and blocked.

This was originally knitted in Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk, as bottom left.

The tweed version top left was featured in Vogue’s magazine Knit Simple and you can find the easy pattern in
Knit Simple: Holiday Issue 2007
Shown as Cabled Cap #30 in the editorial section and Cable Panel Cap #30 in the pattern directions.
(cover has a chunky hooded and cabled vest)
