#329 Marion Cardigan
Cables, lace, and ribbing are classic knitting stitches. When combined, they create a fresh and feminine take on the wear-with-everything cardigan.
The cardigan body is knit from the bottom up to the underarms. Sleeves are knit in the round from the cuff to the underarm. Next, the body and sleeves are joined together and underarm stitches are put on hold. As you continue working to the top, armhole and sleeve shaping are done first; then, shoulder and neckline decreases are worked to create the saddle shoulder and lovely curved neckline. After bind off, stitches are picked up and knit around the neckline for the neat, folded-over, ribbed collar.
A simple grafting stitch is used to join the top and bottom half of each underarm and the collar is whip stitched in half on the inside.
Finally, ribbed front bands are picked up and knit with buttonholes. An optional ribbed belt cinches the waist for even more ways to wear this beautiful cardigan.
