Gorgeous leaf lace panels gently curving right and left as they flow downwards are the focal centerpiece of this strikingly elegant cardigan. This cardigan is also uniquely delicate and surprisingly warm when knit in the supremely soft kid mohair and silk blend yarn shown here.

Plus, this is a seamless, top-down knit that works up fairly fast.

After working the yoke lace from the neckband down to the underarms, the body and sleeves are separated and continued in plain knit.

Ribbed edges and button bands finish the cardigan with classic lines that allow the lace to stand out.

Lace panels are both charted and written out.

Approximate total yardage required: 540 (610, 680, 750, 840, 930, 1055) yds / 494 (558, 622, 686, 768, 850, 965) m.

Some suggested substitutes listed above:
OR 1 strand of a lace-weight alpaca silk (like The Alpaca Yarn Co. Halo, Rowan Kidsilk Haze, Isager Light Fine, Garnstudio DROPS Kid-Silk, Knit Picks Aloft) held together with 1 strand of a light fingering or fingering-weight yarn (like Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, Malabrigo Yarn Sock, Garnstudio DROPS Fabel, Knit Picks Palette, Cascade Yarns Heritage)

The samples shown are knit in a brushed alpaca that is listed as a worsted weight yarn. For this pattern, it’s knit on a slightly larger needle size. Fyberspates Cumulus and we are knitters Touch Me Mohair are the most similar I could find to the Garnstudio DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk, but please swatch to check gauge and see if you like the resulting fabric.

Shown in: Garnstudio DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk (77% Alpaca, 23% Silk); .9 oz/25g 153 yds/140 m per ball: 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7) balls in Color #25 Steel Blue. NOTE: Some images show the original test knit version in #19 Curry (see my Ravelry project page at https://www.ravelry.com/projects/SweaterBabe/daphne-cardigan for notes on this version, which is cropped and has thinner ribbed edges).
