#382 Julietta Tote Bag
Bands of crochet lace transform a simple tote into a striking, covetable accessory. And in a vibrant color of cotton yarn, this tote is both cheery and practical.
Crochet the tote from the bottom up with rounds of solid double crochet. Then, a lace insert is worked over three rounds before returning to rounds of double crochet. The next two lace bands are worked with fewer double crochet rounds in between for visual appeal.
Once the few final rounds of double crochet are completed, the straps are worked as single crochet rounds integrated with the top border.
A video tutorial at https://youtu.be/kS2uMnzxyLE shows the crochet techniques for the lace inserts.
This is a truly versatile pattern. If you prefer a shorter tote, this pattern is easily adjusted with fewer rounds of double crochet at the bottom or within each solid double section. You can crochet this tote with color blocks! One way is to use one color for the 1st solid and lace band, a 2nd color for the 2nd set, and a third for the 3rd set plus straps. Or you can do the lace inserts in a different color than the sold sections. So many options!
