Pattern Description from Vogue Knitting, Fall 2007: “An escape from the ordinary. Teva Durham’s scalloped-lace jacket overlaps in the front and can be sized by merely moving the buttons. The fronts, back and sleeves are worked waist- and wrist-up, creating a foundation row to which the cuffs and hemline are later attached; they’re delineated by garter-stitch bands.”

“Standard-fitting jacket with collar and overlapped front, peplum and extra long sleeves.”

Knitted Measurements:

  • Small/Medium (Large/X-Large)
  • Bust (buttoned) 32 (42)“/81 (106.5)cm
  • Length 23”/58.5cm
  • Upper arm 15 (20)“/38 (51)cm

Materials:

  • 7 (9) 1¾oz/50g balls (each approx 163yd/149m) of Loop-d-Loop by Teva Durham/Tahki Stacy Charled, Inc. Moss (extrafine merino wool/nylon) in #7 rose
  • One pair size 7 4.5mm) needles or size to obtain gauge
  • Stitch markers
  • Four ½“/13mm buttons

Gauge: 19 sts and 12 rows = 5”/12.5cm wide by 3”/7.5cm long in cockleshell lace pattern.

Note: Jacket is constructed by working the back, front and sleeves from the shoulders down to the lower edge. Triangular inserts fill in the scallops along the cast-on edges to even the edges and are worked later. The sleeve cuffs and lower edge peplum are worked from the lower edge upwards to utilize the scallop effect of the pattern.
